2002年6月購買了此輛俗稱〝維他奶〞的Suzuki Grand Vitara，原意只想在假日時可與太太及小狗往新界或闖闖、或行行山，就算遇到不甚平坦的路也可駛過，不怕碰損底盤；另因駕駛私家車太久了，想試試四驅車的滋味，總覺得男人嗎......。當4月下了訂金(因沒有現貨)，等候交車期間，四處尋找有關四驅車的資料，如駕駛技術、改裝資料等，赫然想到既然是四驅車，何不試試真正的越野駕駛？經一輪所謂的資料搜集，最後加入了 香港四驅之友會 成為會員。但這時我仍未收到我的Grand Vitara。
雖車仍未到手，倒已有一點後悔，究此車不太合適真的去攀山越嶺。除先天條件不足，市售改裝件及配件亦不多，因新一代維他奶終不及第一代的流行，早期的維他奶確影響深遠，外國現仍有公司為其生產新設計的配件。

九月份正式跟隨四驅會去玩了，12月聖誕過後還跟四驅會駕駛這部維他奶由香港直駛往廣西桂林，這個四驅之旅共玩了五天，今年元旦日回港，來回差不多1700公里。而行程安排不錯，不會太趕，充滿遊山玩水之樂趣。
唯好景不常，在回港後的星期天(1月5日)，車子在上一個沒怎難度的斜坡時，發生了一件不幸的、但又預計到的、但想不到會在這情況下也發生的事 ─ 前差速箱爆裂！這個維他奶的大弱點：鋁合金前差速箱經不起前輪空轉著地回送的扭力而爆裂。可幸(?)加裝了Free Hubs，還可以自己把車駛回家，翌日送回代理維修廠。這情況在外國如台灣及英國等很常見，尤其台灣，因近年台灣的維他奶在當地生產，銷情不錯，以致發生此事甚多。之前香港也有同類事件，我所知的就有4次。唯日本鈴木(及台灣)廠並無正視改良。
兩個月後的3月4日，終於從維修廠取回我的車子，為了減低重蹈覆轍的風險，由四驅會長幫忙，經台灣訂了一個日本製鑄鐵的差速箱取代原廠鋁合金的。亦因利成便(反正拆開，但荷包則很傷)，加裝了頭Air Locker及另外一些配件。
至此，應可玩得放心點，而改裝亦暫告一段落。其他如想改頭尾泵把(以改善入、出角度)、裝絞盤等(自知車弱，望可自救)，要遲遲遲遲遲遲遲點再算，因為辛辛苦苦儲起的積蓄都給我敗了。

I bought this brand new Grand Vitara 2.0 in June 2002 and joined the Hong Kong Offroaders Club at the same time. After 1000km run-in, I made the modifications to the Grand Vitara first with Suspensions, M/T Tyres, Protection Bars and Skids. Then I began to offroad...
In the end of December 2002, I had a long trip that drove my GV from Hong Kong to Guilin China with the club-mates. It's a wonderful experience to me and my Grand Vitara.
But..., a unfortunate thing took place on the following offroad day (Sunday, 5th Jan 2003) after back from China, the front axle case cracked when the GV went up the slope. This is the common problems to Grand Vitara and Vitara all over the world, because the front axle case is made of aluminium, wrong material on a 4X4 vehicle. In England a Vitara lover named Dave whose Vitara had changed seven front axle cases, oh my god, I don't want to be the next...
Now my GV is fitted with a steel axle case that manufactured in Japan but imported from Taiwan. Thanks our Club's chairman to arrange all of that for me. And now, one more little secret in the new front axle - Air Locker.
